What, no El Elm Park Hotel?

Re: EURO 2016 travel thread
Rossall - we've gone with Lille as it's bigger. Lens is about the size of Elm Park, only with less hotels.

Re: EURO 2016 travel thread
We've got 2 nights Marseille (train from St Pancras), 3 nights in Nice and then 2 in Paris. Hotels booked in advance and now looks like it's saved us a fair but particularly in Marseille and Nice.

Got lucky with the ballot and got tickets for the Eng v Russia game in Marseille and now looking for NI v Poland in Nice and Eng v Wales, but not hopeful. Applied in the current ballot (closes 1st Feb), but more optimistic about picking something up in the re-sale window which I think is April time.

I've got spares for ROI v Italy and a 2nd round game (probably Germany) and looking to swap theses for the games above.

Wanstead - Lyon is nearbyish, that's where we're staying and getting the train to and from the game.

Marseille £90 via Porto from stansted with Ryanair. Returning on the train leaving Marseille just after 1am. £40

The other two games coach trips. Bloke is running coach from barking side and Thurrock

Re: EURO 2016 travel thread
I applied through the main 2016 website for random matches before it was known who would be in which matches and was unsuccessful. I've now applied for a QF.

You can still apply up to next week I think.

Re: EURO 2016 travel thread
Through the FA, do you mean? If you haven't been to an away game before then you'd have had next to no chance other than for the Russia game, so it might have been a hoop not worth bothering jumping through.

Once i'd read into the process i was going through a lot of checks and effort to try and get one of a few hundred tickets in a 40,000 seater stadium

First major tournament for me and as like i said its relatively close thought it'd be worth the drive

Going to the final, didnt bother with anything else.

Eurostar out on the saturday, return monday. £120 return which I thought wasnt too bad. Couple of nights in a decent hotel wasnt that expensive either all things considered.

Last one I did was 2004 and that was superb.

Rossal - what did you have trouble with?

Re: EURO 2016 travel thread
Booked travel for the group games - flying to Marseille for the Russia game and staying a couple of miles outside the centre. A group of us in a minibus are taking Eurotunnel for Wales, but staying in Lille rather than Lens. Then we're flying to Geneva for the Slovakia game, driving to and staying in Lyon rather than Saint-Etienne.

Currently thinking about whether to gamble on flights for the last 16 if we win the group. I am not convinced.

There are no hotels in the cities where and when games are on. Rooms traditionally become available as people find they don't get tickets etc, but I prefer not to gamble.

Re: EURO 2016 travel thread
was thinking of starting a thread on our squad/starting xi for this. if woy gets his selection right (no rooney!) think we could have a decent side. not sure we'll win it but might surprise a few teams.
